Gartrand was a dragon, the son of Maven and Chayil. He was Sorentine's mate, and they conceived a daughter, Listener, but Gartrand betrayed the dragons prior to Merlin's transformation of the dragons into humans (resulting in the death of his mate and unborn daughter), and was subsequently killed by Devin. Sir Devin and his knights tracked him down and used Merlin's candlestone to weaken him before killing him.
